Setting Expectations for Your Kid’s Phone
It is important to establish early on that having a cell phone is a privilege and not a right. Along with establishing that, it is also important to establish some boundaries for your child to follow. Here are some tips to make sure your child doesn’t abuse their cell phone privileges.
- Monitor Text Messages- Establish the fact that anything on the cell phone is not private information and you may check on their phone from time to time. This includes viewing text messages, picture messages and other information on your kids’ cell phone.
- Set a Good Example- Tips for parents, you should set a good example about cell phone usage. If you don’t want your children constantly checking their phones at the dinner table or during family time, do the same and set a good example.
- Safety Tips- For some parents, the best parenting advice for them is keeping their children safe. Some of the best ways to do that is to make sure they stay away from sharing their number with those they don’t know. Usually, that means to refrain from using a cell phone while driving.
