Kajeet and AWS donate 30 SmartSpots with complete unlimited data plans to support the success of Washington, D.C.- area students throughout the 2020/2021 academic year

MCLEAN, VA. (PRWEB) DECEMBER 09, 2020

Kajeet®, a leading provider of IoT connectivity, software and hardware solutions that deliver safe, reliable and controlled internet connectivity to students, enterprises, state and local governments and IoT solution providers, today announced it has teamed up with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support GOODProjects, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization. Committed to ending poverty for 500 local families by 2030, GOODProjects provides critical resources and programs aimed at solving intergenerational poverty.

“Education is one of the most powerful tools to solving poverty, and with the sudden rise in distance learning, reliable internet connectivity is critical,” said Darius Baxter, founder of GOODProjects. “Since the beginning of the pandemic, GOODProjects has been delivering valuable services to its most at-risk youths, from creating a safe, in-person learning hub to providing food, education support and even personal protective equipment. Donations are critical to keeping our programs running and we are grateful for the support from Kajeet and AWS.”

Today, nearly 17 million U.S. children lack high-speed home internet, including more than 20,200 children in Washington, D.C., according to the Alliance for Excellent Education. To help provide equitable access to today’s digital curriculum through safe and reliable embedded internet connectivity, Kajeet and AWS teamed up to donate Kajeet SmartSpots–controlled WiFi hotspots–with unlimited data plans to GOODProjects, which were distributed to 30 local families in need. Each SmartSpot is provisioned on Kajeet’s IoT management platform, Sentinel®, the most advanced solution for controlling an IoT network from a centralized console. Built on AWS, Sentinel provides administrators with complete visibility and control over wireless usage, enabling advanced filtering and website blocking to eliminate distractions and ensure students remain focused.

“For nearly 20 years, Kajeet has worked to reduce digital inequities, specifically among students. As the backbone of our IoT management platform, AWS has helped expand our capabilities and services around the world, and we’re excited to collaborate with them on this important investment,” said Daniel J. W. Neal, chairman, CEO and founder of Kajeet.

Kajeet is mission-focused on eliminating the digital divide to enable better decisions and ultimately better lives. Today, more than 3,000 K-12 schools, higher education institutions and libraries, and over 10,000 school buses across North America rely on Kajeet to provide safe and reliable internet access to students.
